Job Summary

The Central Energy Supervisor seeks a skilled Trades Specialist IV to operate boilers in the Central Heating Plant and other university locations during the heating season. The ideal candidate will perform repair and maintenance activities as instructed, ensuring safe, efficient, and continuous delivery of steam and heat.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate high-voltage boilers, gas-and-oil-fired boilers, and gas-fired boilers in the Heating Plant and assist with boilers in other university locations as needed.
  • Monitor boiler operations, report any abnormalities or problems, and make adjustments as instructed.
  • Perform preventive and semi-routine maintenance on boilers and related mechanical equipment, including internal inspections and preparation for annual inspection and testing.
  • Supervise the unloading and storage of fuel oil.
Requirements
  • High school diploma and two years of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of high-pressure steam boiler techniques and procedures.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and ability to follow written instructions.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures, lift up to 80 pounds, and establish effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and co-workers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years of relevant experience.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with loud equipment and extreme temperatures. Ability to train on first shift and move to a regular second shift is required.
