Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Retail Sales Lead to join our team at Recreational Equipment Inc. As a Retail Sales Lead, you will be responsible for driving sales through all channels by improving selling behaviors and capitalizing on promotional events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales through all channels by improving selling behaviors and capitalizing on promotional events
  • Demonstrate strong interest and credible expertise in our product assortment and translate this knowledge into value for our customers
  • Guide Retail Sales Specialists to do the same
  • Passionately promote REI's membership and effectively convert non-members to members
  • Help guide Retail Sales Specialists to do the same
  • Prepare the store by effectively stocking and coordinating daily stocking process, actively handling merchandise, executing visual directions, and ensuring a compelling presentation
  • Partner with Visual Merchandising Point Person (VMPP) to ensure visual pleasant presentation
  • Adapt presentation based on changing inventory levels, new products, promotions, and market conditions
  • Identify areas of opportunity and act on them as it relates to inventory accuracy, price accuracy, and product stock levels
  • Deliver inspirational experiences for our members and customers through effective promotion of outdoor programs and outreach
  • Train and mentor new staff, provide direction to peers as necessary, coordinate service delivery, and task execution
  • Share feedback with Retail Sales Managers regarding staffing and scheduling needs
  • Demonstrate initiative and productivity and serve as a role model for Retail Sales Specialists
  • Support and partner with Retail Sales Managers through department communication of goals, daily expectations, task assignments, and feedback

Requirements

  • Previous retail sales and customer services experience (preferred)
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledgeable of outdoor activities in assigned department (preferred)
  • Completion of the REI Sales and Service Training and Membership Training prior to working on sales floor
  • Requires open availability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings and weekends
