Position OverviewThe Medical Lab Technician plays a crucial role in managing specimen accessioning and processing, ensuring quality specimens for laboratory testing. This position requires effective communication and collaboration with team members to enhance job performance and foster strong working relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Perform patient registration, billing, and test order procedures accurately to ensure compliance with testing and reporting standards.
- Utilize the AIDET patient care method during all interactions to enhance patient experience.
- Adhere to safety policies for patient identification and ensure proper specimen collection techniques are followed.
- Maintain an organized and well-stocked laboratory environment, promptly notifying personnel of any shortages.
- Participate in ongoing educational opportunities and departmental meetings to stay current with best practices.
- Manage specimen processing to provide high-quality samples for laboratory analysis.
- Ensure accurate patient demographics and billing information are entered according to physician orders.
- Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining the integrity of technical information shared with patients.
- Prioritize collection requests to minimize patient wait times while ensuring specimen accuracy.
- May be assigned additional duties as needed.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of Phlebotomy training or an equivalent Allied Health training program.
- BLS certification within a specified timeframe.
This position is essential for delivering quality healthcare services and ensuring patient satisfaction.
