Electrical Systems Engineer Opportunity

PacifiCorp is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our T&D System Operations - Apparatus team, you will provide technical expertise in substation apparatus, protection and control equipment, and communications equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical guidance to critical and complex substation, distribution, and transmission operation and control functions.

• Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve operational effectiveness.

• Lead development and implementation of processes and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness.

• Evaluate policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure compliance with company safety procedures, legislative requirements, and NERC reliability standards.

• Supervise local relay technicians, communication technicians, and substation journeymen, and develop and review daily and weekly schedules as needed.

• Analyze schemes and prints, and prepare field notebooks and outlines for substation equipment installation.

• Collaborate with engineers and operations staff to resolve system and design issues.

• Provide training as needed for various departments, including dispatch, relay technicians, communication technicians, substation journeyman, and switchman.

• Maintain project timelines and budgets.

• Analyze and design engineering methods.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• A minimum of five or more years of industry experience as a substation design engineer, substation maintenance engineer, or related field.

• Knowledge of the power system.

• Assessment skills, including problem diagnosis and identification of proper methods and techniques to resolve and prevent future problems.

• Communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult and resolve internal and external customer issues.

• Ability to work with all levels of an organization, including people with different styles and backgrounds, and work as a member of a team.

• Expert knowledge of current technologies, tools, systems, and vendors.

• Proficient with the use of personal computers and automated tools.

• Understanding of applicable company policies, practices, and procedures.

• Ability to effectively translate technical jargon into layman's terms.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supervising technical personnel.
