We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team at WSP in Salt Lake City, UT.

About the Role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing complex new construction, renovation, and electrical infrastructure projects. This includes reviewing and approving electrical infrastructure design plans, ensuring data integrity and compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply high-level electrical engineering techniques and processes for various project phases, including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.
  • Plan and incorporate future-ready techniques, concept development, operating strategies, and various electrical design requirements.
  • Prepare and review electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, grounding touch and step potentials, short circuit study, overcurrent protective device coordination, one-line diagram development, and protective relaying.
  • Lead MEP engineering projects, including preparing and overseeing relevant project budgets, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory performance, supervising subcontractors, task completion, cost and quantities of materials/equipment/labor, and technical calculations.
  • Develop and review plans, specifications, and cost estimates, and updating electrical infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, concepts, and recommendations.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to project members with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Remain current in latest electrical engineering techniques and practices.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for large capital projects.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Proficient knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, process, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering standards and codes (NEC), building codes (ICC), and energy codes (IECC).
  • Ability to utilize innovative analytical techniques in solving complex technical problems.
  • Coordinates and manages tasks within larger projects.
  • Proficient with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Project management experience with small to mid-level projects, including tracking hours and expenses for project work.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Highly capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis, and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
  • Ability to assertively direct others in the field, such as subcontractors and others, to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Works toward developing solid client relationships.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
