Position Summary

The primary responsibility of this role involves overseeing distribution partnerships, cultivating relationships, implementing strategic initiatives, and enhancing processes. This includes a thorough understanding of Compass Group and Member purchasing dynamics, crafting and executing annual business plans, and identifying value-added opportunities. The role may entail supervisory responsibilities for direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulate category plans and collaborative business strategies.
  • Develop sourcing strategies and recommendations in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Sourcing team to negotiate and finalize preferred distribution agreements.
  • Assess ongoing service level requirements and maintain distributor performance metrics.
  • Serve as the primary contact for customer service level challenges and enhancements.
  • Oversee essential internal processes, including budgeting, contract management, benchmarking, and product recommendations.
  • Conduct industry analyses to proactively inform a three-year distribution strategy.
  • Work with the BAR (data insights) Team to create tools and performance scorecards for distributors.
  • Provide continuous trend analysis to identify value-creating opportunities and necessary corrective actions.
  • Develop comprehensive strategy reports.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to align goals and priorities.
  • Manage performance indicators for direct reports, ensuring identification of training and development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with category peers on market strategy.
  • Lead project plans related to accounts receivable and payable activities, aligning with distributor operations for optimal results.
  • Create and present insights and recommendations based on customer and competitive analysis.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives with assigned distributors.
  • Research market trends and potential suppliers to discover continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on non-food distribution transitions, aiding in communication and process enhancements.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in supply chain, distribution, or related fields.
  • ISM Foodservice Certification is advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Proficient analytical skills with large datasets.
  • Demonstrated negotiation expertise.
  • Ability to develop strategic business plans and manage cross-functional projects.
  • Financial acumen with forecasting capabilities.
  • Professional presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence teams directly and indirectly.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% annually.
