Asphalt Paver Operator

Job Type: Full-time

Description:

• Perform thorough pre-start inspections and maintenance procedures to ensure equipment is in optimal working condition.
• Operate the asphalt paver, monitoring material flow from the truck to the hopper and providing guidance to the truck operator as needed.
• Maintain a consistent speed and adjust material flow accordingly to achieve smooth operation.
• Ensure the machine is properly aligned and closely monitor the first several loads of mix to guarantee quality.
• Optimize the operation to run as efficiently as possible, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
• Clean the machines immediately after paving is complete, preventing material from hardening.
• Stay vigilant for signals from other operators regarding adjustments, material, or mat surface changes.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety at all times, identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
• Keep essential supplies on hand for the paver to ensure seamless operation.

Requirements:

Soft Skill Requirements:

• Ability to meet all safety requirements and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary, including hard hat, safety glasses, work gloves, and high-visibility vest.
• Capacity to work effectively as a team player with a diverse group of individuals.
• Ability to follow directions and complete daily tasks and expectations for each specific job site.
• Capacity to communicate effectively with the job foreman regarding any issues or concerns.
• Ability to work overtime and travel as required, with occasional overnight travel.
• Responsibility to report to work at designated start times.
• Professional attitude and demeanor when interacting with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public.
• Maintain constant alertness on job sites.

Experience and Education Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Pass a pre-employment drug test and industrial physical.
• Valid Driver's License, CDL a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Work is performed in various weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements.
• Ability to lift and carry 5-25 lbs. frequently, 25-50 lbs. often, 50-100 lbs. occasionally, with assistance.
• Capacity to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand to operate equipment.
• Ability to perform consistent physical effort, including standing, shoveling, or walking for a minimum of 8 hours per day without fatiguing.
