Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at the University of Michigan Health System's Mott Children's Hospital. As a Pediatric Emergency Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to children and families in our emergency department.

Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and efficient nursing care to children of all ages and pediatric specialties experiencing an emergent or urgent situation.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of the pediatric emergency patient.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide patient- and family-centered care, meeting the complex care requirements of the emergency pediatric population.
  • Implement technical skills required for the care of the pediatric emergency patient, adhering to UMHS policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to make rapid decisions in emergency situations.
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly, ensuring compliance with UMHS standards.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities in teamwork and pediatric patient care delivery.
  • Stay current with research and evidence-based practices in pediatric emergency care.
  • Identify and address personal learning needs, actively participating in quality improvement projects and initiatives.
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
  • At least 18 months of current RN experience in an Emergency Department, with a focus on pediatric care.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Pediatric Emergency Department RN experience, preferably in a Level One Trauma Center ED.
  • Charge Nurse and/or preceptor role experience.
  • Effective delegation and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to service excellence and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to make quick, accurate decisions.
  • Personal and professional accountability.
  • Current certifications in ENPC, TNCC, ACLS, PALS, and CEN/CPEN.
