Key Responsibilities
  • Perform journey-level work in diagnosing and repairing various vehicles and equipment
  • Fabricate and maintain emergency vehicle equipment
  • Complete service records for work performed, including documenting labor and parts utilized
  • Diagnose and repair computer-controlled electrical fuel injection and emission systems
  • Respond to emergency road assistance calls for disabled emergency vehicles and equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles
  • Operate specialized shop vehicles and equipment
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Four years of related experience, requiring broad knowledge of complex systems and procedures
  • A C Recycle Recovery Certificate within 90 days of employment
  • Four ASE Certifications in area of assignment
  • Knowledge of tools, methods, and practices of vehicle maintenance and repair
  • Knowledge of electrical automotive systems
  • Knowledge of vehicle diagnostic principles
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, and regulations
  • Knowledge of standard safety practices
Working Conditions

This position involves working in a fast-paced environment with exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and temperature/weather extremes. The employee will be required to lift, carry, or handle medium-weight equipment, materials, or supplies most of the day. Occasional physical effort with heavy objects (over 60 lbs.) may be required.
