Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professional to join our team at NorthStar EMS. As an EMS professional, you will be responsible for providing emergency medical care and transportation to patients in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and maintain the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition
  • Complete daily check-off sheets and report any needed repairs to the supervisor
  • Transport patients and passengers safely and efficiently
  • Assist medical personnel as needed
  • Perform precepting duties for new employees and students
  • Stock and maintain the ambulance and its contents
  • Work in hazardous environments to ensure patient safety and stabilization
Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver's license
  • Current State of Alabama EMS Driver license with Driver (EVOC) endorsement
  • No convictions for DUI, possession of drugs/drug paraphernalia, or suspended/revoked driver's license in the past five years
  • No more than two traffic tickets in the past three years
  • No more than two motor vehicle accidents in the past three years
  • CPR certification
Working Environment

As an EMS professional, you will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, often in hazardous conditions. You must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be able to communicate effectively with patients, medical personnel, and other stakeholders.

Physical Requirements

You must be physically fit and able to perform the duties of the job, including lifting, carrying, and balancing loads in excess of 125 pounds. You must also have good eye-hand coordination and sufficient manual dexterity to manipulate equipment and medications.

Communication Skills

You must be able to communicate effectively with patients, medical personnel, and other stakeholders, and be able to speak English clearly and write legibly. You must also possess basic teaching skills and be able to communicate tactfully and sensitively to volunteer agencies.
