Position Summary:

The Volunteer Coordinator plays a vital role in fostering a strong community of volunteers dedicated to supporting the mission of Black Mountain Home for Children. This position requires a commitment to nurturing relationships and facilitating volunteer engagement through various initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a personal relationship with the Christian faith, serving as a positive example in all interactions with youth, staff, donors, and volunteers.
  • Engage in regular prayer for the youth, staff, and overall ministry.
  • Participate in staff meetings, contributing to Christian devotion and prayer, while staying informed on ministry updates.
  • Lead the volunteer department, overseeing recruitment, recordkeeping, and volunteer engagement.
  • Build relationships within the community to recruit volunteers through events and orientations.
  • Process volunteer applications, ensuring all documentation is complete and conducting necessary background checks.
  • Match volunteers to appropriate ministry areas based on their interests and skills.
  • Maintain organized volunteer files and track updates as required.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the RV Park, including scheduling and welcoming guests.
  • Create and manage monthly timesheets for volunteers, ensuring accuracy and completion.
  • Coordinate group volunteer programs, serving as the primary contact for groups and managing their schedules and feedback.
  • Prepare thank you letters and process feedback forms for all volunteer groups.
  • Design name badges for new volunteers as necessary.
  • Compile volunteer hours reports bi-monthly and maintain a weekly volunteer calendar.
  • Lead initiatives to express appreciation for volunteers, including outreach and thank you communications.
  • Collaborate with various ministry departments to enhance volunteer recruitment and engagement efforts.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field along with two years of experience in volunteer management.
  • Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of educational qualifications.

Reports To: VP of Operations
