Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough intake assessments for individuals with mental health needs in the Emergency Department and Walk-In Center, ensuring accurate referrals.
- Collaborate closely with care teams and behavioral health staff to facilitate effective referrals and placements.
- Act as a liaison between different hospital sites, providing support to other patient care areas with mental health concerns.
- Ensure compliance with Mental Health regulations and procedures, maintaining a high level of professionalism.
- Provide personalized care and support based on the patient's age and needs, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
- Assist in training new crisis services team members and respond to agitated/violent behavior, promoting a safe environment.
- Participate in utilization management and update referral information as needed, ensuring seamless communication.
- Monitor the therapeutic environment when required, maintaining a calm and respectful atmosphere.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
Sitting for up to 5 hours per day, standing for up to 1 hour per day, walking for up to 2 hours per day, occasional use of fingers for tasks, hearing and vision capabilities as related to job functions.
Education and Experience:
A mental health professional with a minimum of a Master's degree in a human services field and 3+ years of relevant experience OR a Master’s degree with a license and 2+ years of experience OR a Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience.
Training and Experience:
Minimum 2 years of direct clinical mental health/crisis intervention experience required. Previous exposure to case management/utilization review and managed care models is beneficial.
