GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Under the supervision of a registered nurse or healthcare provider, the Practical Nursing Specialist (PNS) applies sound clinical judgment in delivering nursing care.

Engages in a range of both technical and routine nursing tasks. Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to develop, implement, and assess the effectiveness of the nursing care plan. Exhibits clinical proficiency.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing Program

Basic computer literacy and typing skills


PNS professionals working in home care settings must have reliable daily transportation and are required to maintain insurance, possess an acceptable driving record, and meet fingerprinting eligibility criteria.

Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards, and behaviors as outlined in the organization’s

Must practice the customer service skills provided through ongoing training and workshops

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing as a Practical Nurse

Successful completion of the pharmacology examination for Practical Nurses

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience in an ambulatory care setting is preferred
