Practical Nurse Specialist

GENERAL OVERVIEW: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) operates under the supervision of a registered nurse or healthcare provider, employing sound clinical judgment to deliver nursing care. This role encompasses a range of both technical and routine nursing tasks. The LPN collaborates with the healthcare team to develop, implement, and assess the effectiveness of nursing care plans, demonstrating a high level of clinical competence.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program.
- Proficient in basic computer operations and typing skills.
- For LPNs in home care settings, reliable transportation is essential, along with maintaining appropriate insurance and a satisfactory driving record.
- Must adhere to core customer service responsibilities and standards as outlined in the organization's Customer Service Policy, including Communication, Ownership, Understanding, Motivation, Sensitivity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Respect.
- Engagement in ongoing training and in-services to enhance customer service skills.
- Possession of personal attributes such as self-direction, flexibility, commitment to teamwork, initiative, a willingness to learn, openness to new experiences, and respect for diversity.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
- Successful completion of the pharmacology examination for LPNs.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Prior experience in an ambulatory nursing setting is preferred.
