Job Summary

Summers-Taylor, Inc. is seeking a skilled Certified Crane Operator to join our team in the Tri-Cities area. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for operating heavy crane equipment in a safe and efficient manner at highway and civil heavy construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate crane equipment to lift and move materials and other objects
  • Plan all lifts, using capacity charts to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Perform rigging inspections and daily crane inspections to ensure equipment is in good working condition
  • Respond to hand and/or verbal instructions from supervisors and colleagues
  • Observe the travel of all loads and take appropriate action to avoid injury to personnel or damage to property
  • Listen to warning alarms and respond accordingly, and monitor boom angle and drum rotation indicators
  • Ensure the pick is safe during crane or hoisting operations
  • Perform daily inspections and report findings using effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Be thoroughly familiar with crane control functions
  • Operate crawler and hydraulic cranes for bridge construction
  • Keep equipment clean and well-maintained on an ongoing basis
Requirements and Qualifications
  • 3 or more years of crane operating experience required, bridge construction preferred
  • Class A or B CDL license with a clean driving record and current DOT physical card required
  • CIC, NCCO, or equivalent OSHA-approved crane certification required (LAT/TLL/TSS)
  • Ability to climb ladders, stand and walk on uneven surfaces, and sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong focus on safety procedures
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Strong focus on work ethic and quality work performance
  • Reliable transportation
  • Pass a drug screen and physical
  • Comply with a criminal background check
  • Comply with I-9 and E-Verify requirements
