Position Overview:
The Electrical Test Engineer (Contract for Client) at SIGMADESIGN is an integral role for a leading consumer electronics organization. We are seeking a proficient Electrical Test Engineer to contribute to our operations in a dynamic environment.

This contract position is anticipated to last for 12 months, with the potential for extension based on performance and project needs.

Salary range: $115,000 - $140,000 per year, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:
The Electrical Test Engineer will be responsible for the development and execution of electromechanical tests on custom-designed hardware. Key functions include:

  • Developing methods for electrical fault isolation of component-level electronics using techniques such as TDR, Laser-Thermal (XIVA/OBRICH), magnetic current imaging (MCI), and lock-in thermography (LIT).
  • Analyzing circuit designs and configurations to determine root causes of marginal failures.
  • Preparing metallurgical samples through processes including potting, cross-sectioning, polishing, dye/pry, and de-capping.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess the following:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in fault isolation techniques (XIVA / OBIRCH, MCI, LIT, TDR, or trace probing) on integrated electronic devices.
  • At least 2 years of experience in metallurgical processes including cross-sectioning and de-capping.
  • Proficiency in reading schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and understanding PCB layouts and component data sheets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to SIGMADESIGN's core values and ability to pass a post-offer background verification.

Preferred Skills:
Ideal candidates will also have:

  • Knowledge of integrated electronics fabrication processes and experience with electro-mechanical systems assembly.
  • At least 1 year of experience in analytical and failure analysis techniques, including C-SAM, FIB-SEM, and XRD/XRF.
  • Familiarity with materials relevant to flexible electronic devices, such as photo-patternable polymeric resins, elastomers, conductors, underfills, encapsulant materials, and thermal materials.

Work Environment:
This role is based in a standard laboratory and production setting. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required. There may be occasions where work is conducted in environments that simulate typical user conditions for design testing and validation. Travel to other facilities or client sites may be necessary. Candidates should be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
