Position Overview: Siemens Smart Infrastructure is seeking a Power Systems Study Engineer for our Power Systems Center of Competence. This role involves conducting applications engineering and analytical evaluations on medium and low voltage electrical power distribution systems for a variety of clients, including industrial, commercial, institutional, and governmental entities. The selected candidate will report to the Power System Engineering Manager and will not have any direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:

Primary tasks include preparing short circuit analyses, evaluating devices, coordinating protective devices, and conducting arc flash studies. Prior experience in electrical power systems analysis is essential. Ideal candidates will possess a current Professional Engineer license, experience with SKM, EasyPower, or ETAP software, and a background in electrical power systems applications engineering, installation, or field service. Some travel may be necessary for field data collection and client review meetings. Responsibilities include supporting end users, contractors, and distributor accounts across North America and Latin America. Computer analysis will involve creating electrical one-line diagrams using EasyPower, ETAP, SKM, and AutoCAD software, as well as performing short circuit, load flow, arc flash, and voltage drop analyses of client systems. The engineer will evaluate analyses and compile written reports on findings. A demonstrated ability to work effectively on project teams and strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering; a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred. Must hold a Professional Engineer License in the USA. Expertise in arc flash and power system studies, including short circuit, protective device coordination, load flow, grounding, harmonic, and power quality studies. Proficiency in using SKM, EasyPower, or ETAP power system analysis software. Background in power systems applications engineering, design, testing, and installation supervision is preferred. Ability to provide hard copies of completed power system analyses, reports, and calculations. Broad industry experience is desirable, including work with low and medium voltage installations at utilities, industrial facilities, commercial, and residential buildings. Candidates must be open to approximately 20% travel within the United States. Qualified applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of low and medium voltage switchgear, motor control centers, circuit breakers, panel boards, transformers, surge protection devices, relays, power quality meters, and battery systems, serving as a subject matter expert on behalf of Siemens to clients. Ability to interact with clients and project stakeholders in a professional and tactful manner. Capable of providing estimates during project planning phases and collaborating with project managers to ensure project success. Commitment to safety and promoting a safe work environment for all.
