Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Network Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team at Northrop Grumman. As a key member of our SATCOM team, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining satellite ground stations, as well as providing 24/7 on-call engineering support to operations and Level 1 technicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Deployment: Develop and implement satellite ground station designs, including local and remote-site field work, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Test and Maintenance: Conduct thorough testing and maintenance of satellite ground stations, including troubleshooting and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • On-Call Support: Provide 24/7 on-call engineering support to operations and Level 1 technicians to ensure seamless operation of satellite ground stations.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with engineering development teams to perform independent regression testing and formal validation of new system configurations and capabilities.
  • Training and Development: Provide hands-on training to users on satellite ground station equipment and develop training materials to ensure effective knowledge transfer.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, electrical engineering, or telecommunications.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in the deployment, assembly, operation, maintenance, test, and troubleshooting of ground stations for satellite communications systems.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of computer networks, especially Internet Protocol-based systems, and the network appliances that comprise them. Familiarity with RF and communications test equipment for performance measurement and troubleshooting.
  • Certifications: CCNA or Security + or Network + certification is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Military Satellite Communications and RF experience.
  • Maintenance and Operations experience.
  • Computer or network industry certifications.
