Job Summary:

The Data Governance Analyst will be responsible for operationalizing and advancing Dartmouth's data governance and related objectives. This role will develop processes to execute data governance objectives and identify further opportunities to enhance institutional data governance and data quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful execution of institutional-level projects in alignment with objectives.
  • Collaborate with data governance leadership to develop and enhance data governance policies, frameworks, and strategies.
  • Establish mechanisms to track the impact of data governance programs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.
  • Engage with external partners, vendors, and industry experts to stay informed about emerging trends and practices in data governance.
  • Coordinate cross-functional improvements to data quality.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and stakeholders, providing guidance, support, and oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Research data governance best practices at other institutions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years relevant work experience in a technical or functional role working with data.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and techniques.
  • Experience in and functional understanding of complex data environments.
  • Familiarity with defining and tracking performance indicators.
  • Ability to develop methods of implementing institutional initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, lead, and influence within and across teams.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience providing training and support.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop skills and competencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data governance in an academic environment.
  • Demonstrated success driving a project forward.
  • Experience synthesizing information for senior leaders.
  • Experience maintaining administrative and software systems supporting the implementation of data governance priorities.
  • Experience as a subject matter expert regarding the interpretation and documentation of data governance policies and processes.
  • Experience mentoring and teaching others.
