Sandy Spring Bancorp is seeking a highly skilled Loan Quality Assurance Team Lead to join our team. As a key member of our Commercial Lending department, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of our loan reviews and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead a team of Loan Quality Assurance Specialists in reviewing and evaluating commercial loans for quality and compliance.
  • Develop and implement quality control processes and procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy in loan reviews.
  • Collaborate with internal partners, including Loan Administration, IT, and Business Process Management, to re-imagine and improve our commercial loan review process.
  • Oversee the quality control review of new, renewed, and modified commercial and consumer loans, handling escalations and providing feedback to other departments.
  • Maintain records and develop reports to identify trends, error rates, and areas of concern, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and manage the bank's Quality Control plan for compliance with bank and regulatory requirements, designing compliance testing models and ensuring integrity of all loan system data.
  • Prepare and submit pledged loan reports for HMDA, CRA, FHLB, and FRB, requiring a thorough understanding of all pledged loan requirements and associated data.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in banking compliance, operational risk management, or a related field, with prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commercial banking practices, including loan authority, collateral, rate structures, and borrower entity relationships.
  • Advanced experience using personal computer systems, including database, spreadsheet, and word processing applications.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret policies and procedures and select alternative procedures and work routines.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, with a high level of independence and judgment.
Working Conditions:

Normal office environment with minimal discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements. Ability to travel to remote company and/or client locations.
