About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled HVAC O&M Controls Technician to join our team at Johnson Controls International. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning of building automation systems, as well as providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning of building automation systems
  • Provide exceptional customer service and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Mentor and train control technicians, service technicians, and mechanical technicians on building automation activities
  • Complete required project and service documentation
  • Provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service
  • Diagnose and repair complex control systems malfunctions
  • Consult with customers and provide field proposals for retrofits, upgrades, and enhancements
  • Manage assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction
  • Interface with branch manager, service manager, service project manager, or subcontractors on projects
  • Communicate with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and meet regularly with customers to become familiar with operating problems
  • Adhere to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards
  • Provide safety leadership and instruction to all controls technicians in the branch
  • Train customers in control systems operations and deliver manuals and documentation for training needs
  • Provide mentorship for certification of Controls Technicians and Service Technicians on complex building automation systems
  • Compile job documentation, such as certificate of completion, customer training form, training certificates, and punch lists
  • Conduct extensive self-study to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company's product lines
  • Complete certifications as required by the company
  • Assist in the design and configuration of building control systems
  • Compile and/or complete project as-built and close-out documentation
  • Assist in the coordination and creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation
  • Select, order, and track the delivery of materials for assigned projects
  • Coordinate factory-mounting processes to meet factory and project schedule
  • Assist in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers
  • Assist in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades
  • May provide field change information to the project team for the creation of as-built drawings and software
  • Keep management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues
  • Assist in performing site-specific training for owner/operator on the total building control system
  • Participate in release meeting with project field team
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions
Requirements
  • Vocational School four-year program graduate, an Associate's degree in a technical field, or two years' experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems
  • Demonstrated ability to install and/or service electronic control systems and HVAC equipment
  • Effective communication skills to represent Johnson Controls on customer sites
  • Possesses the ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people
  • Demonstrate effective writing skills as well as understanding of programs and software applications
  • Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and other building subsystems
