Job Summary

ArenaNet is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Concept Art Lead to join our team. As a key member of our Art Department, you will be responsible for leading the Concept Art Team and collaborating with our Art Director to deliver high-quality concept art that aligns with the game's vision and storytelling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Concept Art Leadership
    • Lead and mentor a team of concept artists to ensure the highest standards of artistic quality and productivity.
    • Develop and maintain efficient workflows and processes for the concept art team, ensuring timely delivery of assets and adherence to project schedules.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work closely with other departments to ensure the seamless integration of concept art into the final game assets.
    • Collaborate with the Art Director and Design team to clarify the vision for art assets for both internal teams and external outsourcing studios.
  • Artistic Vision and Direction
    • Generate high-quality concept art, including character designs, environments, props, and key art, that align with the game's vision and storytelling.
    • Create and maintain style guides and other documentation to ensure a consistent visual direction throughout the project.
  • Professional Development
    • Assist in the career growth of the team and establish and improve processes as needed.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Art or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
    • 8 years of experience working in game development pipelines.
    • Previous experience in a Lead role.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Proficiency in creating high-quality concept art that conveys the vision and mood of the game.
    • Advanced understanding of anatomy, visual design, light, and color.
    • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and other digital painting tools.
    • Familiarity with game engines to understand how concept art translates into the game environment.
  • Nice to Have
    • Understanding of current 3D software such as, Blender, 3D Coat, Zbrush, UE5.
    • Demonstrate a wide range of styles and techniques in the field of concept art.
    • Understands video game concepts and can visualize game play mechanics.
