Hand Consult/ED Surgical Services Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our team at UC Davis Health System. As a Hand Consult/ED Surgical Services Nurse Practitioner, you will provide daily support of the Hand Consult/ED service and other surgical services as needed. You will manage assigned patients, consults, and procedures independently, working collaboratively with physician colleagues to ensure timely consults and admissions.
Key Responsibilities- Provide independent advanced practice provider clinical expertise to patients and their families on an ongoing basis.
- Manage chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and specialty protocols as defined by standardized procedures.
- Perform procedures within scope of practice and standardized procedures, including non-invasive or invasive procedures, fracture reduction and splinting, surgical procedures, and wound-related conditions.
- Act as an expert resource person for healthcare providers, including nurses, residents, and other ancillary staff.
- Participate in patient and staff education, demonstrating leadership skills and accountability for own practices as defined by the Nurse Practice Act.
- One year or greater experience as an ED or surgical service nurse practitioner required.
- Graduation with a master's degree, DNP, or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction.
- California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing License.
- California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction.
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate within 3 months of hire.
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR Certification.
- National NP board certification in aligned specialty with the practice area.
- Ability to cope with personal stress experienced by team members, other professionals, and caretakers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Judgement skills to effectively meet the needs of patients.
- Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role.
- Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider.
- Three years or greater recent clinical experience as an ED or surgical service Nurse Practitioner.

Work EnvironmentThis position is located at the Main Hospital and requires the ability to work flexible hours, including nights. The successful candidate will be able to lift up to 25 pounds and will be required to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider.
