Job Title: Graduate Engineering Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Engineering Assistant to join our team at the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. As a Graduate Engineering Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects related to bridge inspection and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform load rating analyses under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer.
  • Analyze bridges for use by overweight and oversized vehicles.
  • Communicate with Division of Motor Carriers when bridges are overstressed by those loads.
  • Assist the Chief Bridge Inspector and the district bridge engineers with routine, NSTM (non-redundant steel tension member), in-depth, and special bridge inspections.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a accredited engineering program.
  • Bridge inspection or construction experience.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in an accredited engineering program as approved by the Kentucky Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.

Working Conditions:

Work may be performed in the office and/or the field.

Probationary Period:

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS.
