Securian Asset Management is on the lookout for a Structured Credit Investment Analyst to bolster the expansion of our structured asset portfolios. This role is crucial in assisting the structured assets team in reaching the investment goals of diverse portfolio strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring both primary and secondary structured asset markets, providing timely recommendations for new issues through comprehensive structural and underlying asset analysis, considering relative value across structured assets and other investment alternatives.
  • Delivering insights on secondary market opportunities based on relative value assessments.
  • Executing trades for approved investment ideas.
  • Conducting ongoing surveillance of current holdings to adjust risk levels in line with prevailing fundamental perspectives.
  • Regularly updating investment sector theses and positioning.
  • Performing internal assessments of ratings.
  • Analyzing underlying asset performance metrics against established benchmarks.
  • Maintaining asset analytics and financial modeling.
  • Conducting recurring sector-level analyses to identify pivotal shifts within sector coverage, articulated through fundamental outlooks and recommendations.
  • Evaluating sectors with an emphasis on ESG factors to spotlight relevant sustainable investment options.
  • Engaging in projects aimed at innovating and enhancing the research process, including leveraging various technological platforms.
  • Providing cross-sector analytical support and engaging in discussions regarding relative value.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven success in investment research within a liability-driven or total return context in a structured analyst capacity.
  • Currently pursuing or holding a CFA and/or MBA.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present objective recommendations and substantiate viewpoints.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities, with a deep understanding of structural nuances and modeling techniques.
  • Ability to distill and convey critical issues and assumptions effectively.
  • A comprehensive understanding of financial markets and risk models, supported by a background in mathematics, economics, or statistics.
  • A high degree of curiosity, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong commitment to collaborative teamwork.
  • Experience with research tools such as Bloomberg, Intex, Excel, and Tableau.

Physical Job Requirements:
  • Ability to use a keyboard, computer, and/or mouse for up to 8 hours daily.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Ability to engage in phone and/or virtual meetings for 1-4 hours daily.

Compensation and Benefits:
The estimated base salary range for this position is $131,000 - $191,000, with variations based on job-related factors and individual experience. This role is also eligible for a performance-based incentive program.
