GE is seeking a skilled Tool Designer to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing tools and fixtures for production hardware and associated sub-components for aircraft applications.
Key Responsibilities:- Design tools and fixtures for production hardware and associated sub-components for aircraft applications.
- Apply Geometric Tolerancing Methodology (GD&T), geometry, and trigonometry to ensure accurate and precise tool design.
- Perform analytical calculations necessary for designing tooling and fixtures, including tolerance stack-ups, fits, torque requirements, and thermal expansion at various temperatures.
- Layout, measure, and mark metal stock, measure/examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specs.
- Set up, adjust, and operate all basic machining tools and specialized and advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations.
- Apply metallurgy concepts, such as determining the correct hardness and alloy requirements.
- Lead and influence technical personnel to find root cause of equipment failures and implement improvements.
- Install repaired or new parts into equipment, mount attachments or tools onto production equipment, and install mechanical components in production equipment.
- Assist in the assembly of experimental hardware to optimize the manufacturing process.
- Associate's Degree or High School Diploma/GED from an accredited school or institution.
- 5 years demonstrated experience in tool design.
- Proficient Geometric Tolerancing.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient CNC programming skills.
- Basic understanding of heat-treating processes.
- Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn.
- Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively.
- Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed.
- Leadership ability: strong communicator, decision-maker, collaborative.
