The unit primarily receives patients from the Emergency Department, addressing various medical conditions related to endocrine, integumentary, gastrointestinal, renal, respiratory, and genitourinary systems. We emphasize the orientation of new graduates, providing a supportive environment for the early stages of your nursing career.

Role Purpose:
The Nurse Manager Assistant serves as a pivotal nurse leader, responsible for fostering a culture of excellence in patient care. This role exemplifies professional nursing practice and operates under the guidance of the Unit Director or other departmental managers. Key responsibilities include conducting employee evaluations, participating in staff selection and hiring, and overseeing daily performance for a team of direct reports. Additionally, this position provides educational support and clinical expertise to staff, including orientation and training, as well as coordination of clinical activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster productive relationships both internally and externally by building teams and mentoring colleagues, promoting positive communication and cultural diversity.
  • Utilize performance improvement tools to enhance care quality and work environment, integrating research and best practices into daily operations.
  • Mentor and educate peers, impacting the lives of patients and families through knowledge sharing and preceptorship.
  • Align with national professional organizations and health system goals to enhance patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.
  • Apply nursing knowledge within the framework of Relationship-Based Care, addressing the clinical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients and families.
  • Lead clinical nursing practice improvements, identifying opportunities for change and supporting staff during transitions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience.
  • Master's degree preferred; BS/BSN required.
  • If the BS degree is not in nursing, a master's or higher degree in Nursing is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated competence as a Professional Staff Nurse.
  • Ability to assess and meet the age-specific needs of patients.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Capacity to work effectively in a complex environment with shifting priorities.
  • Exemplary clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.

Licensure and Certifications:
Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the practicing state is required. National Certification is preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is mandatory.
