Nurse Manager Assistant

Main 5 is a 29-bed acute care medical unit dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to a diverse adult and geriatric patient population. Most patients are admitted to Main 5 via the Emergency Department with medical conditions related to the endocrine, integumentary, gastrointestinal, renal, respiratory, and genitourinary systems. Purpose:
The Clinician serves as a nurse leader with direct accountability for fostering a culture of excellence in patient care. This role exemplifies professional nursing practice. Under the guidance of the Unit Director or other departmental managers, the Clinician will conduct employee evaluations, oversee staff selection and hiring, and manage daily performance for a team of direct reports. The Clinician is also responsible for providing educational support and clinical expertise to staff, including orientation and training, consultation on practice issues, and coordination of clinical activities. Additionally, the Clinician may assume shift accountability for delivering nursing care as necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Fosters and maintains productive working relationships both internally and externally by building teams and relationships through mentoring and positive communication. Coaches colleagues on cultural diversity and addresses workplace issues. Demonstrates accountability for safe work hours, time management, and healthy lifestyles.
- Utilizes performance improvement tools and techniques to enhance the quality of care and work environment. Continuously integrates research and best practices into daily operations and shares insights from improvements with other units.
- Encourages the development of others, positively impacting patients, families, peers, and healthcare team members through mentoring, education, and knowledge sharing. Actively participates as a preceptor for student nurses and assists in developing new preceptors.
- Incorporates national professional standards and organizational goals to enhance patient safety, quality, and satisfaction in daily work. Creates a compassionate patient-focused experience by building healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Applies nursing knowledge within the framework of Relationship-Based Care, addressing the clinical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients and families. Demonstrates critical thinking in analyzing various issues related to patient care.
- Leads clinical nursing practice by identifying opportunities for improvement and guiding the change process. Supports staff during transitions and practices participatory leadership.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience.
- Master's degree preferred.
- BS/BSN required.
- If the BS degree is not in nursing, a master's or higher degree in Nursing is required.
- Demonstrated competence as a Professional Staff Nurse.
- Ability to assess and interpret patient data reflective of their age-specific needs.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively in a complex environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Exemplary clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
- Mobility and physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the practicing state. National Certification preferred. CPR certification required based on AHA standards within 30 days of hire.
