Geisinger Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in an outpatient setting.
Job Duties- Support patients and providers by performing basic direct patient care activities.
- Take vital signs, weights, and assist patients with ambulation, dressing, and undressing for examination.
- Assist providers in setting up for minor procedures, gathering supplies and equipment, and applying aseptic dressings.
- Obtain and accurately document patient information using the rooming tool within the electronic medical record.
- Complete medication review and accompany providers and care team members during patient examinations.
- Provide support and assistance to patients as needed and reinforce patient instructions to enhance patient understanding and adherence to treatment.
- Collect and prepare lab specimens and complete associated paperwork, forms, and documentation to expedite laboratory studies.
- Report patient concerns and questions to appropriate care team members and follow through as directed.
- Report all patient safety incidents or issues, patient and family complaints, serious events, and environmental hazards immediately to supervisor.
- Provide onsite service recovery as applicable or as delegated by supervisor.
- Complete Midas reports as per policy.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of 1 year of related work experience
- Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification preferred
