Certified Medical Assistant II

As a Medical Assistant II at CommonSpirit Health, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care. Under the direction of the healthcare provider, you will be responsible for performing preliminary physical tests, obtaining and recording vital signs, and preparing patients for exams. You will also be responsible for administering medications and vaccines, scheduling patients for diagnostic testing, and communicating test results to patients. Additionally, you will maintain patient records, prepare and clean instruments, and ensure a safe and clean environment for patients. Responsibilities:
* Perform preliminary physical tests, including measuring blood pressure, recording weight, temperature, pulse, and respirations
* Obtain and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications
* Prepare patients for exams, including taking medical histories and preparing examination rooms
* Administer medications and vaccines, including oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and inhalant administration
* Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follow up to ensure completion of testing
* Communicate test results and plans of care to patients by phone or mail as directed by the provider
* Maintain patient records, including documenting patient plans, tests, and examination results
* Prepare and clean instruments, and maintain equipment to ensure a safe and clean environment for patients
Qualifications:
* High School Diploma (or GED equivalent) and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
* Current/valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required if applicable
* BLS CPR certification required within 5 days
* 2 years Medical Assistant experience
* Ability to perform urine drug screens, administer injections, and effectively communicate with staff and patients
* Demonstrated knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures, as well as medical terminology and abbreviations
* Ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations, and maintain a positive, caring attitude towards patients
