A.T. Still University's Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH) is in search of a dedicated full-time Director of Integrated Human Sciences for its St. Louis, MO campus. This role involves the development and assessment of the integrated human science predoctoral curriculum, alongside teaching responsibilities in biomedical sciences, particularly in anatomy (including neuroanatomy, systemic anatomy, embryology, and histology) and mentoring research activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director of Integrated Human Sciences to create, implement, and evaluate a robust academic framework for the delivery of integrated human science content throughout the four-year DMD program.
  • Enhance the integrated human science curriculum by identifying and addressing gaps, overlaps, and inconsistencies.
  • Coordinate with academic leadership and staff to organize courses and faculty assignments for the integrated human sciences curriculum.
  • Deliver instructional content for all assigned anatomy and related courses, and prepare assessment materials including examinations and quizzes.
  • Develop and refine course objectives and assessments, ensuring alignment with curriculum goals.
  • Conduct gross anatomy lab demonstrations and dissections.
  • Create supplementary educational resources, such as demonstration videos, for student reference.
  • Regularly update lecture materials and laboratory manuals as required.
  • Support students in achieving proficiency in Human Sciences and critical thinking skills.
  • Monitor student progress and implement necessary remediation strategies.
  • Identify challenges within the Biomedical and Dental Sciences curriculum and propose effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with faculty to supervise students in simulation clinic activities as needed.
  • Participate in assigned committees within MOSDOH.
  • Engage in research activities, seek grant opportunities, and disseminate findings in relevant academic forums.
  • Serve as Principal Investigator for grant-funded research and collaborate on faculty-led research initiatives.
  • Publish research outcomes and present at academic conferences.
  • Assist with instructional and research mentoring responsibilities as designated by the Assistant Dean, Research.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
  • Doctorate in DMD/DDS/BDS or PhD in Anatomy.
  • Extensive knowledge of human anatomy and general dentistry.
  • 5-10 years of experience in higher education, particularly in clinical and didactic roles at the pre-doctoral level.
  • Current faculty appointment at the assistant professor level or higher at MOSDOH.
Essential Skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong presentation and demonstration skills tailored for a pre-doctoral audience.
  • Proven track record of independent research contributions.
Technical Proficiencies
  • Proficient with standard computer technology.
