Job Summary

As a Health Science Specialist with the Veterans Health Administration, you will play a vital role in the Research and Development (R&D) Service at the St. Louis ORD VISN 15 in St. Louis, MO. This position is crucial within the Office of Research and Development (ORD) and the facilities where research programs are conducted.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage clinical tests and collect data, ensuring data integrity and completeness.
  • Recruit and manage candidates for clinical trials, providing information on study objectives and constraints.
  • Assist with data analysis from various sources, including databases and spreadsheets, and conceive and write reports as needed.
  • Monitor data collection processes, ensuring compliance with applicable data security and privacy policies.
  • Maintain research databases, working with existing VA administrative databases, and managing spreadsheet files for data tracking, budget tracking, and other project management tracking tasks.
  • Record and maintain results and records of all tests or assessments as per protocol and in a manner complying with research regulations.

  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • Participation in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program is a requirement for all Veterans Health Administration Health Care Personnel (HCP).

Qualifications
  • THIS POSITION HAS AND REQUIRES A BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT - SCREEN-OUT.
  • Applicants must possess a bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.
  • IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT, YOU MUST ALSO MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
  • Possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-9 grade level in the Federal service that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Work Schedule
  • Monday - Friday - 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Physical Requirements
  • The work is primarily sedentary with occasional walking, standing, and handling and carrying items such as paper and books.
