Hospital Protection Officer

Main Function:
- Maintains post and patrols as assigned to ensure a secure environment.
- Guards against unauthorized entry and unlawful acts, upholding the hospital's safety protocols.
- Enforces employee and visitor identification and control procedures to maintain a secure and controlled access.
- Participates in codes, disaster, fire and other safety-related events, providing critical support to the hospital's emergency response team.
- Carries out other specific duties as assigned by the Director of Security or Lead Security Officer.
- Is a resource trained for any emergency, providing expertise and support to the hospital's staff and patients.
Reporting Structure:
- Responsible to: Director of Security, Lead Security Officer
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior security experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Valid Ohio driver's license.
- Completion of the WCH Orientation, including ALICE and Verbal Judo training.
- IAHSS Basic CHSO certification within 6 months.
- BLS certification within 12 months.
- Basic computer skills, with proficiency in hospital software and systems.
Preferred Attributes:
- Healthcare security experience, with knowledge of hospital safety protocols.
- Knowledge of DNV/CMS requirements related to Safety and Security, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Knowledgeable of emergency procedures, with the ability to respond quickly and effectively in a crisis situation.
- Makes required rounds per shift, ensuring that all areas of the hospital are secure and safe.
- Investigates and reports breaches of security, taking prompt action to prevent future incidents.
- Responds to aid WCH personnel as needed, providing support and assistance in a timely manner.
- Patrols parking lots and assists visitors/patients, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all.
- Notifies appropriate personnel of any abnormal activities, taking prompt action to address any security concerns.
- Recognizes potential problems and offers assistance, providing a proactive approach to security and safety.
- Remains flexible and appropriately responds to circumstances, adapting to changing situations and priorities.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Security or Lead Security Officer.
