Nutritional Services Assistant

Reports to: Dining Supervisor

Classification: Non-exempt

Role Summary

The Nutritional Services Assistant engages in various kitchen tasks, including but not limited to, dishwashing, maintaining cleanliness, providing daily meal service, and supporting other dietary roles in food preparation and storage of supplies.

Key Responsibilities

  1. This role is classified as a Safety Sensitive Position. The essential functions, physical demands, and mental competencies require the employee to maintain a constant state of alertness to ensure safety.
  2. Responsible for washing dishes, utensils, and cookware while operating dishwashing machinery. Proper handling of all cleaning agents and materials is essential.
  3. Distribute and organize clean cookware, dishes, and utensils.
  4. Sanitize production equipment, work surfaces, and kitchen areas according to established cleaning protocols and safety precautions.
  5. Take and deliver food and beverage orders efficiently.
  6. Ensure satisfaction among residents.
  7. Maintain quality standards and service excellence.
  8. Deliver meals to residents who are unable to dine in communal areas.
  9. Keep assigned work areas safe and sanitary.
  10. Adhere to personal hygiene standards and comply with departmental dress codes.
  11. Follow safety protocols; report any injuries or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
  12. May assist with basic kitchen preparations and serving tasks.
  13. Communicate effectively and courteously with residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors to foster a welcoming environment.
  14. Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor for the benefit of residents.

Qualifications:

  1. Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  2. Must meet all healthcare requirements, including Tuberculosis screening.
  3. Must maintain good standing with all healthcare regulatory agencies.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

This role is highly active, requiring constant standing/walking, repetitive motions, frequent bending/stooping, reaching, lifting/handling, pushing/pulling, and occasional carrying. The employee must frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, with varying frequency of tasks.
