Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional, personalized care to residents with cognitive impairment, utilizing skills taught during cognitive care training.
  • Review and follow written assignments for daily care to residents, ensuring their preferences are honored.
  • Observe resident functioning and report any changes in condition or behavior to supervisors.
  • Assist in providing a positive dining experience for residents, including preparing the dining room and using cueing and hand-under-hand assistance.
  • Build deep connections with family members and interact with them in a thoughtful and compassionate way.
  • Participate in engagement activities and spend time each day in meaningful interactions with residents, recognizing and celebrating their life events.
  • Use Positive Physical Approach (PPA) in all interactions with residents, family members, visitors, and fellow employees.
  • Actively participate in the culture of learning by attending cognitive care training, in-service training, and staff meetings.
  • Maintain resident dignity, privacy, confidentiality, and respect, following company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • A desire to interact and engage with residents with cognitive impairment outside of delivering basic care.
  • Maintains all necessary certifications required in state.
  • The ability to communicate proficiently in English.
