About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Product Director to join our Innovation team at the American Red Cross. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for strategizing, developing, and delivering technology solutions that support our mission.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead Technology Development: Evaluate new technology developments, applications, and evolving business/systems requirements to inform product decisions.
  2. Develop Business Cases: Work cross-functionally to develop and document business cases for technology and data science projects.
  3. Manage Project Roadmap: Oversee the maintenance of a roadmap of all active projects, tracking project/portfolio performance metrics to monitor business value over time.
  4. Lead Innovation Team: Manage employees, contractors, and volunteers to coordinate daily tasks and status of work within the Innovation team.
  5. Produce Documentation: Oversee the production of documentation, including process maps, high-level requirements, and high-level UX screens.
  6. Drive Business Process Understanding: Drive the understanding of business processes and technical requirements for the development of solutions.
  7. Collaborate with Clients: Work closely with clients to analyze current and future technology and data science directions to meet business goals.
  8. Investigate Complex Problems: Lead the investigation of complex operations-related problems/inquiries and recommend, facilitate, and coordinate solutions.
  9. Communicate Effectively: Prepare communications and make presentations related to your work.
  10. Educate Clients: Educate clients about software and project lifecycles and business roles.
  11. Facilitate Problem Resolution: Facilitate problem resolution between IT and the business, as needed.
  12. Represent Client Interests: Represent, champion, and balance client interests within IT.
  13. Provide Training and Guidance: Provide training and guidance to other staff.
  14. Oversee Testing: Oversee the testing of the product at the site and remotely.
  15. Log and Resolve Issues: Log bugs and work with developers to resolve issues.
  16. Drive User Testing: Drive user testing with field resources to check if the product works as desired from a user's point of view.
  17. Frequent Site Visits: Frequently visit the site to build relationships with field teams and understand user pain points.
  18. Product Development: As needed, help with product development of technology prototypes and solutions.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of related experience in Technical Product Management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Recent Coding Experience: Recent coding experience required, ideally with HTML, CSS, and an object-oriented programming language, e.g., Python/Java/C#/C++.
  • Management Experience: Minimum 5 years of management experience.
  • Travel: Travel may be required every few months.
Preferred Qualifications

Previous start-up and/or entrepreneurial experience is a plus. A combination of education and general experience satisfies requirements, so long as the total years equate to the minimum education and general experience years combined (management experience cannot be substituted).

Compensation

The starting annual salary range for this position is $150K - $170K. We do not offer an annual bonus for this role. Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have, and comparison to other employees already in this role. We will review specific salary information at the time of phone screening based upon your location and experience.
