Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented High School Patient Care Intern to join our team at University Hospitals. As a Patient Care Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in patient care and develop valuable skills in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care activities and support as delegated by the Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Assist with hospitality rounds, including offering water, blankets, and other amenities
  • Help patients with ordering meals and distributing mail and newspapers
  • Participate in audits and ensure accurate documentation
  • Assist with cleaning equipment and maintaining a clean and safe environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the RN or Unit Secretary
Requirements
  • Current High School student (rising Senior/Senior) with completed one year of Health Tech education or participant of another Workforce Development identified program
  • Work Permit Required for students under the age of 18
  • Basic patient care skills and effective communication with people from varied socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Ability to organize changing work assignments and flexibility
  • Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn
Working Conditions

This is a part-time position with occasional travel required. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
