Job Summary

This is a split Transportation Worker position that will serve on a Turner-based striping/stencil crew in summer and on the Turner Maintenance Crew in winter.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform pavement marking duties, including painting and maintenance of pavement markings, using hand power tools and related heavy equipment.
  • Work on a statewide travel basis, requiring overnight stay-away and overtime, during the summer season.
  • Assist with snow plowing and respond to emergencies typical to MaineDOT's normal operations during the winter season.
  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks on hand power tools and related heavy equipment.
  • Work under direct supervision and may require long hours of work.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Required to work at a higher class as necessary and in accordance with required licenses and/or certification.
  • Must obtain and retain a valid Class B State of Maine license during the initial six-month probationary period.
  • Ability to become a certified snow fighter within 12 months.
  • Ability to obtain flagger certification within a specified amount of time.
