Electronics Manufacturing Leadership Opportunity

Jabil, a leading global technology manufacturing services company, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Manager to lead our electronics manufacturing team.

Job Summary

This role is responsible for directing the production activities of the subassembly group, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality products to our customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of 35 direct reports, maintaining production schedules, and ensuring quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, interview, and hire Process Engineers, Industrial Techs, WAVE Techs, and Machine Support Techs
  • Training and Development: Coach, mentor, and train department staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively
  • Turnover and Retention: Monitor team member turnover, identify key factors that can be improved, and implement changes to reduce turnover and improve retention
  • Succession Planning: Create and manage succession plans for the machine shop function to ensure continuity and minimize disruption
  • Goal Setting: Establish clear measurable goals and objectives for individual and team results
  • Feedback and Recognition: Solicit ongoing feedback from Workcell Manager, Business Unit Manager, peers, and team members, and ensure recognition and rewards are managed fairly and consistently
Technical Management Responsibilities
  • Maintenance Management: Oversee the maintenance management program, including repair parts, preventative maintenance, feeder maintenance, and support equipment maintenance
  • Technical Planning: Plan the activities of the technical staff to ensure efficient and effective use of resources
  • Reporting and Record-Keeping: Develop and maintain all department reports/records to ensure accurate and timely information
  • Line Moves and Builds: Supervise the planning and execution of line moves and builds to ensure smooth and efficient production
  • Equipment Maintenance: Schedule equipment vendors for installation, repair, and updates of equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Process Improvement: Assure procedures and work instructions are efficient and not redundant, and offer new ideas and suggestions for improvement
  • Customer Service: Demonstrate a commitment to customer service and lead by example
  • Advanced Engineering Support: Utilize Jabil's Advanced Engineering group to ensure useful support and establish new measurement systems
  • Safety and Security: Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations, and comply with all procedures within the company security policy
Requirements
  • Education: High School or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred
  • Experience: 3 years of experience in production management; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Supervisory Experience: Must have previous experience as a supervisor in a high-volume industrial-related environment with several direct reports
  • Hands-on Experience: Hands-on experience preferred in switch gear or other related electronics manufacturing
  • Project Management: Project management with strong computer skills
  • Data Analysis: Ability to read, interpret, and actionize data
  • Flexibility: Must be flexible to work overtime and weekends based on production needs
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Surface Mount Technologies: Knowledge of Surface Mount Technologies (SMT) and Thru-hole equipment/gear, process optimization, Statistical Process Control, Design for Manufacturability, Design for Test, Demand Flow Technology (line balancing), and Design of Experiment methodologies
  • Engineering Disciplines: Knowledge of engineering disciplines including chemistry, mechanical, electrical, and industrial as it pertains to surface mount and final assembly
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills
