Grounds Operations Manager

Under the direction of the Facilities Grounds and Garden department, the Grounds Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of assigned areas, including supervision and coordination of site labor, contractors, equipment, and supplies. The successful candidate will ensure that the Getty landscape and site(s) are maintained at the expected level, adhering to sustainable landscape practices and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Manage subordinate employees, including mentoring, coaching, counseling, training, evaluating, and coordinating their work.
- Oversee horticultural care for assigned areas, including pest control, fertilization, and soil husbandry, plant care, tree care, problem identification, solving, and communication.
- Ensure site care, including maintenance of organic and non-organic surfaces, drainage maintenance, irrigation system operation, and site identification and reporting of potential problems and collaboration on proposed solutions.
- Manage projects, prepare and collect proposals, track project costs, ensure project quality control guidelines are followed, and safety and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and maintain compliance documents and efforts.
- Ensure aesthetics and standards for the area of assigned responsibility.
- Manage equipment and maintain accurate records, including tracking deployment and use of heavy equipment, vehicles, small engines, hand tools, chemicals, and other assets.
- Work directly with internal clients to plan and implement projects and activities.
- High School Diploma or equivalent certification required. Possession of a BS/Associate degree in related subjects such as Horticulture or Arboriculture is desirable.
- Bilingual Spanish language skills required.
- 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in landscape maintenance, Ornamental Horticulture, or related industry.
- 2-5 years of professional supervisory or lead position experience in scheduling, coordinating, performing grounds operations, personnel management, and training.
- Two or more of the following: QAL or QAC pesticide Operators License, ISA Certified Arborist, ASCA Registered consulting Arborist, or Certified Irrigation Auditor desirable.
- Demonstrated landscape management and knowledge of sustainable landscape practices as related to irrigation, pest control, and vegetation management.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing grounds maintenance plans.
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software, email applications, work management software, and centralized irrigation software.
- Ability to manage projects and budgets and produce related reports.
- Ability to work without supervision or as part of a team in planning, problem-solving, and organization of work.
