The auto insurance industry is constantly evolving, and Auto-Owners Insurance is looking for talented individuals to join their team as a claims intern. As a claims intern, you will be responsible for investigating and assembling facts, determining policy coverage, evaluating the amount of loss, analyzing legal liability, and paying or denying losses.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the insurance industry and develop your skills in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with experienced claims professionals to resolve claims and provide excellent customer service.

  • Investigate and assemble facts to determine policy coverage.
  • Evaluate the amount of loss and analyze legal liability.
  • Pays or denies losses accordingly.
Responsibilities:
  • Becoming familiar with insurance coverage by studying insurance policies, endorsements, and forms.
  • Working towards the resolution of claims, which may involve attending arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary.
  • Ensuring that claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Servicing the needs of agents, policyholders, and others.
  • Handling investigations by phone, mail, and on-site investigations.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled and entering junior or senior year in college.
  • Above average communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to resolve complex issues.
  • Organize and interpret data.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Detail-oriented.
Compensation and Benefits

$17.00 per hour. Returning interns may qualify for a higher pay rate. Auto-Owners Insurance is an equal opportunity employer.
