Position Summary:

The Aquatic Safety Officer will oversee swimming activities, ensuring the safety of all participants. This role involves monitoring swimmers, preventing accidents, enforcing safety regulations, and managing access to aquatic facilities. Additionally, the officer will provide first aid as needed and assist in delivering swimming lessons and other water-related programs. General maintenance and cleanliness of the facility are also part of the responsibilities. Attendance at mandatory training sessions is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enforce safety rules to maintain a secure environment for all users.
  • Monitor swimming areas diligently to identify potential hazards.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, including performing rescues and administering first aid.
  • Maintain cleanliness in pool areas, locker rooms, and related facilities.
  • Keep accurate records and reports as assigned.
  • Assist with swim instruction as directed.
  • Engage positively with staff and patrons, fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Ensure all equipment is well-maintained and properly stored.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 16 years.
  • Proficient in English to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Experience in customer service is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Prior lifeguard experience is advantageous.
  • Must possess and maintain certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and other relevant qualifications.

Physical Requirements:

Must demonstrate the physical capability to perform essential duties, including swimming proficiency and the ability to assist individuals in distress. This role requires good health and stamina to meet the demands of the aquatic environment.
