About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team in Mechanicsburg, PA or Pittsburgh, PA. As a Civil Engineer - Roadway Design Specialist, you will be responsible for designing and developing transportation systems for public clients such as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform complex engineering design tasks on relevant civil engineering elements, including roadway design, drainage, grading, and traffic signals.
  • Review and seal own projects or the work of others.
  • Manage the design and construction of projects and provide input.
  • Attend and assist in client/contractor/stakeholder meetings to gain a better understanding of client goals.
  • Involved in the permitting process of projects, which may require meeting with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies to seek final approval.
  • Train less experienced team members in day-to-day activities, including routine technical design and company procedures.
Qualifications
  • Comprehensive understanding of all phases of project development for PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission projects.
  • Working knowledge of PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission design criteria.
  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.
  • Possesses excellent time-management skills, thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting, and efficient use of time and resources.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software programs, including Microstation, InRoads/OpenRoads Designer, AutoTURN, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, and PondPack.
