Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse 3 to join our MICU team at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. As a critical care nurse, you will provide direct patient care to assigned patients, working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized plans of care.

Responsibilities
  • Provides quality nursing care to patients with life-limiting illnesses, maintaining the highest level of care in conjunction with the primary physician.
  • Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient-directed individualized plans of care, consulting with attending physicians as necessary.
  • Evaluates patient/family response to intervention and modifies care plans accordingly, providing patient and family education to achieve necessary skills for quality care and promoting patient/family independence.
  • Documents patient care on appropriate charts and forms in an accurate and timely manner, providing a written record of inpatient care.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement Programs to maintain or improve the quality of patient care.
  • Provides direction and supervision to Patient Care Partners, Unit Receptionists, and volunteers to maintain a positive environment.
  • Accurately completes daily acuity assessments for assigned patients.
  • Attends to patient and family at the time of patient death.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree from an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred. Bachelor's degree required within 3 years of start date.
  • Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Registered Nurse.
  • Completion of Healthcare Provider CPR course, bi-annually.
  • Certification in specialty preferred.
  • Two years clinical experience in a relevant area preferred.

  • Advanced skills in managing operational flow and unit activities for the overall benefit and smooth operation of the unit.
  • Demonstrates skill in patient experience and service recovery.
  • Skill in allocating nursing and support resources to provide smooth and efficient, high-quality care to patients assigned to the unit.
  • Able to delegate assignments and provide direction to nursing personnel.
