Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately dispense unit doses, specialty medications, injectables, IV solutions, enteral products, and related supplies in compliance with state and federal regulations as well as company policies.
  • Prepare compounded medications utilizing appropriate components in a sterile environment.
  • Manage the processing, packing, and shipping of pharmacy orders, ensuring all necessary medications and educational materials are included.
  • Conduct drug and supply ordering, inventory management, and ensure proper storage conditions for pharmaceuticals, including refrigeration of temperature-sensitive products.
  • Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness and completeness, considering the unique needs of different patient age groups.
  • Verify prescriptions not directly received from the prescriber or their authorized agent.
  • Oversee the safety and effectiveness of pharmaceutical care provided to patients, particularly concerning specialty products.
  • Assess patients at the start of drug therapy, develop individualized care plans, and monitor their progress throughout treatment.
  • Collaborate with patients, physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure clinical objectives are achieved.
  • When necessary, prepare intravenous and specialty medications in accordance with established sterile compounding guidelines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the proper handling of sterile and hazardous medications, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Adhere to all FDA, DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, OSHA, and other regulatory standards, following departmental policies.
  • Provide indirect supervision to pharmacy technicians and support staff.
  • Monitor and verify all prescription orders during creation and dispensing processes.
  • Interpret provider prescriptions, manage order entries, and verify coverage for medications.
  • Communicate with patients to confirm data, resolve claims issues, and provide guidance on medication-related inquiries.
  • Prepare and verify documentation, ensuring accuracy in member/patient data and prescription orders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
  • Valid and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of Florida.
  • Strong knowledge of drug products and clinical pharmacy practices.
  • Familiarity with various infusion therapies and the ability to navigate complex therapy-related orders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Capability to accurately fill medication orders in a timely manner.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including 8-hour shifts and rotating weekends.
  • Permanent residence within a reasonable commuting distance to the branch.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in Nutrition.
  • Experience in Home Care or Home Infusion settings.
  • Background in sterile compounding.
  • Familiarity with CPR+ software.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk in a pharmacy environment.
