Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Classroom Counselor to join our team at Seneca Family of Agencies. As a Classroom Counselor, you will play a critical role in helping students achieve academic and personal success. You will work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other specialists to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.


Seneca's James Baldwin Academy is a unique and dynamic school that serves students with emotional and behavioral challenges. Our Classroom Counselors work closely with students, teachers, and families to develop individualized plans that promote academic growth, social-emotional well-being, and behavioral success.



As a Classroom Counselor at Seneca Family of Agencies, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students and families. You will work in a collaborative and supportive team environment, with access to ongoing training and professional development opportunities.


Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other specialists to develop and implement individualized plans for students
  • Provide academic and emotional support to students, including individual and group instruction
  • Assist with behavioral interventions and crisis management
  • Communicate effectively with families and other stakeholders to ensure student success
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge

Qualifications
  • Education/Experience Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree OR
    • Associate degree or equivalent + 1 year of applicable experience OR
    • High School Diploma/GED + 2 years of applicable experience
    • Applicable experience can include paid or unpaid experience working with youth or families, working in a classroom setting, working in a mental health setting, providing academic support to youth, or providing crisis support to youth

  • At least 21 years of age
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca Family of Agencies' insurance policy
  • Proof of up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination

Schedule
  • School-based schedule
    • Monday to Friday: 8 AM- 4:30 PM (ability to work occasional flexible schedule when the school needs vary)

  • 5 weeks of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and 14 paid school break days

    • Actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role
