Job Title: Licensed School Therapist

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed School Therapist to join our team. As a Licensed School Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing mental health services to students in a school setting.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students to help them overcome various challenges and achieve academic success.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans (PBIPs) to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Attend and participate in IEP team meetings, facilitating at the discretion of the school district.
  • Actively participate in other team meetings when necessary to address specific student and parent concerns.
  • Collaborate with education and social services professionals to develop appropriate agency services for students and their families.
  • Provide case management functions for students, including coordination of parent meetings, emergency transportation requests, and disciplinary actions.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents/guardians, district personnel, and services providers to find effective solutions to learning and behavior problems.
  • Ensure the use of positive teaching methods by conducting monthly climate data through direct observation of classroom staff's implementation of IEP goals and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Provide guidance, consultation, and assistance to Teachers in the development of classroom schedules, maintenance of student data systems, and facilitation of student transition plans.
  • Assess student progress through consistent review of classroom data collection and recording systems and provide applicable training and guidance to classroom staff accordingly.
Requirements:
  • Masters or better in Educational Counseling or related field.
  • Meet state and district requirements for appropriate licensing or credentials.
  • Preferred licenses and/or credentials include: Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Educational Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Certified School Social Work Specialist (C-SSWS), Diplomate in Clinical Social Work (DCSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker Psychotherapy (LCSW-R), Pupil Personal Services (PPS).
  • Prior experience working with students with emotional disorders and challenging behaviors in an education or classroom setting.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, instruction, curriculum, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology, including experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
  • Prior experience working with students in a special education program setting preferred.
