Quality Control Technician

Job Summary

To measure parts in flat and formed conditions to drawing callouts, drawing tolerances, edge quality, and dimensional requirements to meet customer, job, and Farwest Steel requirements. To verify quality requirements are met in processes, parameters, sequence, and application.

Key Responsibilities
  • Visual and dimensional inspection to Farwest Steel standards, industry standards, and customer requirements. Research/write non-conformance/returned goods authorizations
  • Formal First Article Inspections and records data on internal and/or customer provided documentation
  • Provides written procedures for Farwest Steel including QWIs (Quality Work Instructions), SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and Quality Manual Revision
  • Weld inspections including: Visual, Magnetic Particle, and Liquid Penetrant
  • Provide training for operators and other inspectors. Provide instructional classes for prints
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Print reading and ability to make mathematical calculations
  • Ability to use both verbal and written English effectively, with courtesy and tact, in dealing with co-workers, customers, and vendors
  • Proficient use of PC (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Three plus years of inspection experience
  • Familiarity with Romer Arm, FARO Arm, or other CMM. Planar equipment is a plus
  • Weld inspection experience
