Position Overview:

This job description aims to outline the key responsibilities and expectations for the role of Counter Sales. It is not intended to encompass every task that may be assigned.

Job Summary:

Alaska Industrial Hardware, a proud subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking dedicated individuals for the Counter Sales position at our retail location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle point of sale transactions efficiently.
  • Provide exceptional service to every customer.
  • Receive, stock, and organize merchandise from incoming shipments.
  • Complete daily tasks as directed by the management team.
  • Ensure the assigned area of the store meets merchandising standards.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of the products offered.
  • Proficient in basic computer operations.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in retail, construction, or a related field.
  • Understanding of sales principles and customer service techniques.
  • Previous experience as a Retail Sales Associate or similar role.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and work on hard surfaces for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly without strain.

  • Regularly pulling and stocking inventory items.

  • Work is conducted in an indoor/outdoor retail setting.
  • Use of computers and multi-line telephone systems is required.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions throughout the year.

Additional Information:

As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable references. Reliable transportation is necessary.
