Job Overview

The Project Manager is tasked with supervising both the technical and financial elements of the project, acting as the firm's representative in all client communications, serving as a conduit with Project Managers, coordinating the daily activities of the project team, and tracking project advancement.

Business Development Responsibilities

· Contribute insights on project proposals and financial estimates

· Support Business Development and Marketing teams in crafting technical documentation

· Foster outstanding internal and external client relationships

Project/Technical Responsibilities

· Collaborate with clients and management to set project objectives

· Develop a project strategy, establish timelines, budgets, labor plans, and schedules; organize the project team; assemble and guide team members; assign tasks; negotiate contracts with approved sub-consultants

· Validate work outputs by reviewing designs, client specifications, and performance criteria

· Gather, evaluate, and summarize data and trends; intervene as necessary to ensure project goals and timelines are achieved

· Encourage internal communication; disseminate information and promote dialogue within project teams and across the organization

· Compile and organize project documentation to maintain project records

· Ensure product quality and uphold the company's reputation

· Stay updated with professional and technical knowledge through ongoing development and networking

· Grasp technical aspects and be capable of performing related technical duties within the department when required

Financial Responsibilities

· Provide insights on project proposals and financial estimates

· Manage project budgets and timelines by approving expenses, analyzing discrepancies, communicating scope alterations to the project manager, invoicing, assisting with payment collection, initiating corrective measures, and reporting outcomes to management

· Assist Finance with accounts receivable management

Employee Management Responsibilities

· Contribute to team development by actively engaging in recruitment and onboarding processes

· Maintain continuous communication with team members and project managers throughout the organization

· Offer leadership and guidance to the team, including accountability for the growth and development of talent within the organization

· Assist with workload distribution within the project team, ensuring all members are effectively utilized

· Collaborate with other departments to share resources when necessary

· Proactively address team performance challenges, working with HR to create performance improvement plans as needed

· Conduct semi-annual meetings with team members to review performance and career development plans

· Act as a mentor to team members within the department and across the organization

· Set short- and long-term objectives, strategies, plans, and policies for team members and the department

Additional Responsibilities

· Meet performance objectives and financial targets (refer to Key Performance Indicator document)

· Perform all other assigned duties

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Land Planning, Surveying, GIS, or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Professional licensure (e.g., PE, PS, RLA, CST, AICP, CPG, SR/WA) is highly preferred
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience
  • At least two (2) years of experience in project coordination, including planning, statements of work, budgets, and scheduling
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel as necessary
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and expectations
  • Capability to independently apply fundamental engineering, environmental, land planning, surveying, and land management concepts
  • Familiarity with local market conditions and contacts
  • Knowledge of residential and commercial land development projects, as well as traditional and renewable energy projects
  • Strong self-motivation and ability to apply technical knowledge across various projects
  • Experience in proactive and reactive marketing and project management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in business terms
  • Proficient in managing ever-changing client deadlines and expectations with tact
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively in team management
  • Experience in managing and mentoring staff
  • Exceptional attention to detail and proofreading skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams
